Ecumenical Patriarchate representatives for Council in Crete

I have been asked in email several times who from such-and-such Patriarchate will be joining (No, the OCA has no representatives). Below it the Ecumenical Patriarchate's list of participants. It is a rather comprehensive gathering from across the globe and of their ethnically non-Greek jurisdictions.


JOHNSTOWN, PA (ACROD) - His Grace, Bishop Gregory has been informed that he has been invited to serve as a member the Ecumenical Patriarchate's official delegation at the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church, to be held from June 16-27 in Crete. For the first time in 1200 years, the primates of all 14 Orthodox autocephalous (or self-governed) Churches, along with more than 300 bishops and others, will meet to pray and discuss issues of common concern.

According to the official press release issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the composition of the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is as follows:

  2. Nice to see 2 women listed as consultants. One is a nun and the second one is Dr. Elizabeth Prodromou, Professor (USA. Dr. Prodromou is a professor of Conflict Resolution. She is a member of the US Secretary of State’s Working Group on Religion and Foreign Policy: Subgroup on Religious Freedom, Democracy, and Security in the Middle East and North Africa (2011-present). Her research interests include Orthodox Christianity and Islam as well as the Balkan states, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. She is well qualified to be a consultant.

  3. Very happy to see there are at least two women who will be present! Too bad there's no OCA representation, though. Was that by choice of the OCA?
