My wife and I went to France to visit family for our honeymoon. Notre Dame was of course one of the places we visited. As such I've always associated it with the beginning of my marriage and so this conflagration feels much more personal than I would have anticipated.
On commenting: Let's leave the anti-French or Catholic bashing for another day.
French media is reporting that it's confirmed that the Crown of Thorns has been saved.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like the end of an era. France (and Europe) does not build such wonders any more. It is a real loss.

ReplyDeleteI’ve heard there was a miraculous preservation of the Altar and even wax tapers from the heat and flames. And Parisians hymning the Holy Virgin outside while the Cathedral burned. Maybe there is hope for France and Catholics.
