ROCOR on the OCA's All-American Council

Interesting series on the OCA's All-American Council from a ROCOR perspective.

From July 18 until July 22, the 20th All American Council of the Orthodox Church in America assembled in Baltimore, MD. This podcast has been divided into six installments: Introduction (this one), interviews with Frs Vitaly Permiakov, Peter Markevich, Reader George Luimes, who attended the council, and a conclusion by Protodeacon Andrei Psarev.

  1. Thanks for posting this. The admission by the host that the OCA organizationally and in spirit - "conciliarity", to the 1917 council than current ROCOR is an interesting one.

The last time I was a part of an OCA parish was in the heart of "the crises" and the rot from the parish up to our bishop was palatable. Since then (from the outside) it appears they have made progress at times, then other times not. However these reports indicate much has been done, the ethos appears to moving in the right direction.

  2. Many good observations here, but I don't think they quite got the fact that every AAC decision has to be approved (or rejected) by the Synod. In practice the Council is a consultative not legislative body.
