Orthodox hierarchs attend Anglican assembly

(ROC-USA) - On June 29, with the blessing of the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk presented a lecture to the 4th Assembly of the Anglican Church in North America. Attending the assembly were representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Nigeria and India. Also attending the assembly was Archbishop Melchisidek of Pitsburgh and Western Pennsylvania (OCA).

The main theme of the assembly was "The Mission on the Threshold." Coinciding with the theme of the assembly, Bishop John presented the document "The Modern External Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church" adopted during a meeting of the Synod of Bishops on June 16, 2013.

Bishop John also met with the head of the Anglican Church in North America, Archbishop Foley Beach where they discussed the common desire to build the religious life of their communities in accordance with traditional Christian values.

  1. A little research indicated that this group is not the mainstream Episcopal church, but a traditional Anglican group. Maybe that's why.

    1. They're a very good variety of Anglican, not in communion with the Episcopal Church in the USA. Their bishops have met a number of times in Russia with Met. Hilarion Alfaev. Lots of good possibilities.

  2. A group that does ordain women to the priesthood, so Michael is correct, "Why?"

  3. I did not say it Was a good thing. I think joint memorials and prayer services between UKrainian Catholics and Ukrainian Orthodox is not good. But then which Patriarch doesn't pray with Papistd or non-Christians? If one wants to be 100%, the maybe the Greek Old Calendarists are the way to go. But then, they are split into factions....
