(OCA) - This fall, the Department of Liturgical Music of the OCA will offer an online music course entitled “Basic Sight-Singing and Ear Training for the Church Singer.” Developed specifically with Orthodox church singers in mind, the course will be taught by Dr. Vladimir Morosan, a noted Orthodox church musician and scholar. This course is intended to teach the basics of music notation—what may be called the “ABCs of music”—to those who love to sing and are able to “carry a tune” but have had minimal musical instruction. Time requirement: 3-4 hours per week.
The course begins the week of October 5 and runs through December 18, with no classes the week of Thanksgiving. The cost of the 10-week-long course is $300, and enrollment is limited to 20 students on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration deadline is October 1. Payment must be made online using this link. Note: Please choose “one time contribution” and in the comment section write, “Sight-Singing Course.” For questions, please write Dr. Morosan at vlad.morosan@musicarussica.com.
