I actually was initially attracted by internet comments that didn't seem to be from either side of the culture wars, but from somewhere else, I was definitely looking for a church with a spine that wouldn't have a lesbian preacher within a few years. I probably do have some protestant beliefs I need to get rid of.
While in some ways I am more right wing, the orthodox church has made me have some views which would be considered left wing. What it has done is melted my attachment to ideology. My politics are now the orthodox church.
My frustration is what some orthodox label as fundamentalist but seem more in line with the church fathers than the modern views held by some orthodox. But I am still trying to aquire the mind of the church. Most of the "Orthodox" represetitives on that medium that inquirers are mentioning are rather right wing and fringe. Particularly "debates". I wish respectable institutions like Ancient Faith and others invested in publishing more to YouTube.Michael Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03910016378835393764noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-73042886598650075.post-47353652205244184292022-05-11T15:45:41.802-05:002022-05-11T15:45:41.802-05:00My wife told me a story about my mother-in-law wor...My wife told me a story about my mother-in-law working to teach kids how to write research papers: you don't start with the conclusion and look for supporting information, you do your research and see where that leads you. While it's true that there is a real very hamfisted effort on the part of *some* (heavily represented by recent converts) to conflate their almost always "western" ideological (expressed in religious terms) baggage into Orthodox cosmology, theological anthropology, and ecclesiology, the far widespread and deeper problem is the easy integrationalism of so many secularized Orthodox.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16152024447008244670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-73042886598650075.post-56978200098517817122022-05-11T12:37:31.496-05:002022-05-11T12:37:31.496-05:00Too build upon what our host is saying, it is not ...Too build upon what our host is saying, it is not a coincident that the author of this article quoted two leading sources/institutes/public voices for a modernism/Orthodox integrationalism within English speaking Orthodoxy: Inga Leonova and George Demacopoulos.

George everyone is probably familiar with, and is a leading thinker and spokesperson for that NE "liberal" GOA brand of integrationalism that has so far been more shy about LBGTQwerty, though I understand his partner at Fordham, Aristotle, is going to come out with an explicitly pro LBGTQwerty philosophy soon.

Inga is the current editor of "The Wheel" (the article states she is a founder - I did not know that) and personally identifies as LBGTQwerty and openly pushes a reform agenda (i.e. for this theological anthropology to be "integrated" within the Tradition) for it within the Church.

If only the author had quoted Met. Kallistos (Timothy) Ware she would have nailed the trifecta.
