Repossession brings to mind images of men in jumpsuits driving tow trucks.
A rare story in a field of positive stories from recent months covering church ownership problems. Normally the worst thing they have to say is that "the process is going slowly."
Lviv (RISU) — Approximately twenty Ukrainian Greek Catholics from the village of Nahachiv in the Yavoriv District of the Lviv Region gathered in front of the Lviv Regional Council with their parish priest to protest the repossession of their village church, reports the Western Information Corporation. RISU’s Ukrainian-language webpage posted this story on 11 March 2008.
The UGCC parishioners maintain that their church was “seized” by members of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, who did not allow Greek Catholic liturgies despite the Ukrainian Supreme Court’s decision about honoring alternate services as early as 10 years ago. The people demanded that Lviv Regional Council deputies respond by assisting the Greek Catholic community in regaining their church.
