Labor Day party at St. Maximus in Denton, TX

Last week we had the house painted and stayed at a local Residence Inn for a few days. With little to do there beyond watching TV and children pummel one another I thought we needed some good religious books for kids to keep them occupied... on a Saturday. The only church I knew with a bookstore and someone to answer the phone was a mission church north of us. The matushka answered and invited us to come on up, take a look, and even borrow some books if we wanted to.

We drove on up and the women chit-chatted while our kids played outside with her kids. I picked out a few books and made the circuit from child watching to joining in on the discussion. Matushka invited us to their Labor Day party and we drove back up yesterday to enjoy the festivities.

Great food, nice people, face painting, bounce houses, egg tossing, and hot weather. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. Orthodox (predominantly OCA) from all over North Texas showed up so Russian and English intermingled quite a bit as did all the children. All in all we were made to feel very welcome and I hope to head back up there soon.
