Enlightening interview with Frederica Mathewes-Green and architect Andrew Gould on the regional difference in building churches; Greek style versus modifications for Slavic churches to adapt to snow, the "womb-like" nature of arches, adapting to the location, etc. They walk through the new church and discuss what they see. The architect is obviously a man with an attention to detail and an understanding of history. He also took in a lot of the local Charleston architectural flavor, which is laudable. I youtubed the raising of the dome from their website.

Is the Holy Table typically made wholly out of wood? (A question from a Latin.)
ReplyDeleteIt is, though it can also be made of stone. This prompts me to do a post on the holy table. I should have something posted today.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm looking forward to your post on the holy table!
