Russian Church has strong statement for President Obama

After Hillary Clinton famously tried to "restart" Russian-US relations with her version of an easy button it seems things are off to a rough start.

Moscow, March 10, (Interfax) - The US President will be held accountable to God for lifting limits on stem cell research, Hieromonk Dimitry (Pershin) believes.

"The democratic president has brought American science back to extensive development. It is not inconceivable that the world will hold another Nuremberg Trial to condemn the destruction of human lives at the embryonic stage of development. But even Obama is unable to escape Heaven, and Heaven holds Judgment," Fr. Dimitry, Chairman of the Committee for Biomedical Ethics and Medical Law of the All-Russian Orthodox Youth Movement, said to Interfax-Religion.

According to Fr. Dimitry, "Obama pays those who have voted for him at his elections with human lives which are at the embryonic stage of development."

"Experiments on humans without the voluntary consent of the human subject were practiced in the Nazi Germany and have been banned in 1947 by the Nuremberg Code issued after the Nuremberg Trials and the following Declaration of Helsinki in 1963; however, this ban has never covered the lives of unborn humans. Medical fascism, therefore, has drifted to this area of practice," Fr. Dimitry said.

Fr. Dimitry noted that "we are facing a paradox: "the freest democracy in the world," a guarantor of liberal values, and a complete legal nihilism in stem cell research".

"Ethical norms narrow down the margin of experiments, but thereby they suggest the direction to move forward. Japan has excluded human stem cells experiments, and as a result it became the first country to produce embryonic stem cells from skin. Americans followed them in that and obtained similar results thanks in large part to the ban on human stem cell experiments introduced by a conservative and Christian President Bush Jr.," he said.
