Catholic New Media Awards: Whither the Eastern Catholics?

Last year the then named Catholic Blog Awards held their annual competition. I emailed them asking that a category for Eastern Catholics make it into the next annual iteration. They responded in a relatively affirmative manner and I had high hopes for a slot to be opened this year. It seems that my hopes were naive.

As a reader of both Eastern Catholic and Orthodox blogs I knew just how little attention they received. The numerical divide between Latin and Eastern faithful is quite large. The logic then follows that, without a category of their own, no Eastern Catholic would ever have a chance of winning anything. A boo and a hiss to you Catholic New Media Awards.
