For the Antiochian Archdiocese to agree on July 9, 2009 that America's Antiochian Bishops are to be referred to as Bishops -- rather than Auxiliaries -- should put this matter to rest once and for all. Too much valuable time has already been wasted on fighting over the official title of America's Antiochian Bishops. It is time to move on to more critical challenges confronting the Antiochian Archdiocese -- including its uniting with the autocephalous Orthodox Church in America -- to initiate the establishment of a united American Orthodox Church.
I think it was more than the titles. I think it was an attempt to change the fundamental nature of the archdiocese without sufficient dialogue beforehand. It was unexpected, unwelcome, and caused quite a stir. Many Antiochians I know are still rather angry, and not angry at the "situation" in general by at Met. Philip in person. For as much as there is a laudable desire to move forward there is also a strong desire to fix the root problems themselves.
This is sadly part of a very common occurrence in Kosovo. Vandals enter churches, set them on fire, then they urinate and defecate in them. ...
"The World is trying the experiment of attempting to form a civilized but non-Christian mentality. The experiment will fail; but we must be very patient in awaiting its collapse; meanwhile redeeming the time: so that the Faith may be preserved alive through the dark ages before us; to renew and rebuild civilization, and save the World from suicide."
