In an effort to guide my children towards being more observant during services I've taken to lightly tapping them on the head or shoulder when they need to cross themselves and fail to do so. For my eldest son there has been a vast improvement and for the younger children it has been fruitful as well.
After this morning's liturgy in celebration of the Transfiguration the children were happily munching on blessed fruit in the parish hall. I tapped a child on the shoulder to get her attention and she obediently crossed herself without thinking. Of the trained responses (please, thank you, etc.) this would seem to be the most worthwhile so far.
Bless Father,
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome idea. Thanks for the tip.
