St. Damien of Molokai

I don't normally (ever?) post on anything that might be supposed to be strictly Western, but I will gladly share my joy at today's glorification of Damien of Molokai by the Roman Church. There is a point in your life where the faith of your youth must grow into the mature faith of an adult lest it be sloughed off as something childish. The life of Fr. Damien was instrumental at that phase of my life. My tearful happiness should carry me through the day.

  1. Amen to that! I listened to the life of St. Damien of Molokai on EWTN Radio the other day (the closest thing to an Orthodox station I can listen to on the way to work) I was brought to tears when I heard about his work with the leppers of Molokai. . . Such devotion, such holiness. . . St. Damien pray for us!

  2. Aloha from Orthodox Hawai'i! St. Damien was an incredible servant of our Lord. The few Orthodox people that are in Hawai'i love and respect St. Damien of Molokai. Thank you for posting this.
