(MOC) - A humble crowd of faithful Malankara Orthodox Christians and well wishers, gathered at the new headquarters of the newly formed Diocese of South-West America, in Missouri City, Texas. As anticipated, the blessing of the new Aramana (bishop's residence) were led by His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Assistant Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chyrsostomos, Diocesan Metropolitan of Niranam, and His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, Diocesan Metropolitan of South-West American Diocese (click here to view pictures).
Many respected Chor Episcopoi (for more on chorbishops see here), priests, deacons and faithful attended the blessed occasion. Very Rev. Dr. P. S. Samuel Chor Episcopos, Diocesan Council member of the Northeast American Diocese was also present at the Koodhasha. Aside from the blessing of the headquarters, the Diocese also launched the official diocesan web site - www.ds-wa.org by His Grace Mar Chrysostomos.
The purchasing and blessing of the new headquarters marks a milestone of an achievement by the young diocese. Now with a stable headquarters, the Malankara Church looks forward to the various plans and new initiatives the Diocese of South-West America wish to execute under the prayerful leadership His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius.

It's worth noting that chorepiscopos in the Indian tradition does not refer to the ancient office but is essentially the equivalent of an archpriest/protopresbyter. So said the Indian Orthodox seminarians where I went to seminary.
