Romania celebrates 85 yrs. of patriarchate with encyclopedia

(Basilica) - Today, February 9, 2010, in the Aula Magna 'Patriarch Teoctist' of the Patriarchate's Palace, under the presidency of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the yearly meeting of the National Church Assembly, the central deliberative body of the Romanian Orthodox Church for administrative, social, cultural, economic and patrimonial problems, made up by the members of the Holy Synod and three representatives (a cleric and two laymen) from each diocese.

The anniversary moment dedicated to the 85th anniversary of 85 years since the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate (February 4, 1925) concluded with the launch of the Encyclopaedia of Romanian Orthodoxy, published at the Publishing House of the Orthodox Biblical and Mission Institute, upon the initiative and with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. The work is a premiere for the Romanian Orthodox Church and was put together by a collective of professors and other specialists under the guidance of Rev. Professor Mircea Pacurariu, correspondent member of the Romanian Academy.
