Blessed Teresa, "PR machine for Catholic Church"

The absurdity. The logic seems to be, "Go ahead and be helpful to the world, but if you are religious all your works cannot be celebrated." And, as the philatelist states, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (doctorate in systematic theology and Baptist minister) has stamps. Tell any librarian in any elementary school that they have to take down the MLK poster on the wall and I'd happily video tape the fallout. The bigotry seems to be more specific than simple exclusion of religious figures. If they are members of - especially if they are priests, nuns, etc. - an apostolic faith they fail the separation of Church and State litmus test. In effect, it's ok to believe in God, but don't go too far with it.

  1. I wish I could remember where I read it, but some spokesman for an atheist organization said the major difference is because MLK didn't fight for rights out of Christianity, whereas Mother Theresa had a ministry. And that was the difference. I think it's silly, certainly, since you can't separate the two from MLK.
