Prayer ropes for the troops

(SGOMA) - The St. George Orthodox Military Association has just shipped its first batch of Chotkis (Prayer Ropes) to our Troops. The first batch was shipped to Fr. Jerome (Orthodox Chaplain) at Camp Pendleton, California. Fr. Jerome has a dynamic and active parish on the Marine Corps Camp and has as regular attendees, our Marine Recruits from MRCD San Diego. It is hoped that these Chotkis will be valuable spiritual assets to our young Marines as they begin their career/time in service to our Country.

The Chotkis are individually packaged with the Chotki, a pamphlet on the “Jesus Prayer” and the ways to pray the “Jesus Prayer” to include the full personal prayer service.

The Chotkis are handmade and donated by Richard Keeney as a service project of the SGOMA – KC Chapter. More Chotkis are being made as we speak and will be sent to another Orthodox Chaplain to be distributed to our Orthodox Military Folks. SGOMA sends our sincerest “Thanks!” to Richard for his time, dedication and service to our Troops!

If you would like to speak to Richard about his Chotkis, offer him a word of praise, or maybe even a small monetary donation to offset the cost of making the Chotkis you can contact him at: keeneyrichard@att.net.
