Indonesian Orthodox church attacked by Islamists

(OMHKSEA) - On February 24th, the Church of St. Catherine in Boyolali, Java (Indonesia) received an attack by extremist followers of a fanatical Muslim organization.

Today, February 25th, the Church is closed and guarded by Police forces.

Fr.Methodios, Indonesian Orthodox priest, is in good health and asks the prayers of all so that our Lord may protect at this difficult time the Orthodox Community in Java.

In the past several times Muslim fanatics attacked, threatened and beat Fr.Methodios.

In Boyolali the Orthodox Community runs a Kindergarten and last year offered important philanthropic and humanitarian aim to the victims of the deadly earthquakes that struck Java, and to those affected by the eruption of volcano Merapi.

We are anxious about that difficult situation in Java and we pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, to pacify the minds of the fanatical Muslims and to protect Fr.Methodios and all the members of the Orthodox Community.
