This is not martyrdom...

Tertullian said, "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church" and yet I do not see martyrdom in this act of violence. How could God be pleased by this? The face of extremism is not a pretty one. Newspaper editorials, network TV news clips, and books don't capture the egregiousness of these acts against the innocent. Because the below photo might be upsetting to some (I expect it will be arresting to all), I have placed it "after the jump" so it is only visible if you choose to see it. Is this faithfulness to His plan or is this perfidy?

(St. Petersburg Times) - A Pakistani security officer carries an injured child from the site of bombing in Quetta, Pakistan on Wednesday. A pair of suicide bombers attacked the house of a top military officer in the southwestern city of Quetta on Wednesday, killing his wife and 18 other people, at least eight of them soldiers, authorities said.

  1. Amen to that, brother. I am reminded of what Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral) recently decreed. I wish all our bishops did this, especially on the anniversary of the terrorist acts of September 11th.
