Russians circle wagons in response to pan-Orthodox meeting

(mospat-usa) - On Tuesday, October 8, at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk participated in a meeting of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Bishop John discussed with the Hierarchs from ROCOR the outcomes from the recent meeting of the Assembly of Canonical Bishops held in Dallas this past September.

  1. Is that in effect the news from this meeting or just your title for it :-)? The Ukrainians are have a clergy conference in New Jersey right now - are they circling their wagons too? :-)

    1. Who knows? Though the Ukrainians are under Constantinople so they have a different perspective on the whole process I expect.

  2. Wagons? Circling? Maybe, but the title assumes facts not in evidence.

  3. It's a wise move. +Philip of blessed memory had some choice words for the EA process. The Russians see no reason to kowtow to a few Byzantine outposts in the Mediterranean.

  4. This was simply a regular Synod meeting, held in conjunction with the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh, which the MP exarch was naturally invited to.
