"I am the door. By me if any man enter in he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture." - John 10:9 At every parish where I have had the pleasure of attending services, there is always a small group of people who find their way all the way up to the church building but don't actually attend services. At one parish it was a group of male gypsies who talked on cellphones or smoked cigarettes. At another it was a few Protestant husbands who, though they never attended services, opened the parish doors for people as they filed in. At yet another parish the men stood in the narthex and chatted until it was time to receive and then got in line. Latin or Greek Catholic, Eastern or Oriental Orthodox I see the same small throng of men standing next to the front door, but not standing, sitting, or kneeling amongst the people. If it were me (and I can only speak for myself here) this option would be an unsavory one. The boredom would be immediate. The anxiety of som...
"The next meeting of the Anglican-Orthodox Dialogue will take place on the island of Malta in October this year and will discuss the issues of environment and euthanasia."
ReplyDeleteWe are still talking to them because about 100 years ago (1920) certain Orthodox became a little too enamored with "dialogue" as a thing-in-itself in which the Holy Spirit works His Love to "fix" Christendom. In other words, certain Orthodox bought into secular presuppositions about man, history, and the Church. Until they repent of this error, these quite inane talks about "the environment" will continue...
These Anglicans are in the process of redefining marriage and sin. They are preparing a "liturgy" to "celebrate" change if gender!!!! Shame shame and shame again on the hirelings who abandon apostolic faith and dialogue with the enemies of Christ.
ReplyDeleteI have a correction for the Anglican representatives:
ReplyDeleteThe pseudo meeting that happened in Crete....was neither holy.....nor great.
Notice the Anglican Church in North America talks to the Orthodox about God. Something the Anglicans in the above, uh, meeting, can't even touch. No comparison. Bishop Kallistos, who I admire, is a good English subject.
ReplyDeleteFather, your headline couldn't be better. How do they have a dialogue with a female priest? Why would either side want to have a dialogue if both sides know their respective positions on the very idea of female priests?
ReplyDeleteScandalous.
ReplyDeleteIn a few years time, be sure that the Church of England will have acceded to British Government demands to have same-sex "marriages" in church. These so-called dialogues are a complete waste of time, although Kallistos Ware is not going to change his ideas at his age. When he is no longer on the stage, I can't see any successor on the Orthodox side.
ReplyDeleteFew years? More like a few months. The Church of England is sinking faster than the titanic.
