Antiochian Bishop Anton has reposed in the Lord

Some have asked in the past why they say "Christ is Risen" at the repose of someone even if it is not Paschaltide. This something done in the Antiochian Church that is slowly spreading into other jurisdictions.

(Antiochian.org) - Memory Eternal! + Bishop Antoun

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." John 11:25

Christ is Risen....

With great sadness and hope in the Resurection, His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH announces the passing into eternal life of His Grace Bishop ANTOUN, this morning October 2, 2017.

More information about the funeral arrangements will be posted when they become available.

  1. May his memory be eternal! Bishop Antoun was the first Orthodox bishop I ever met. He was quite a man. I will always remember the homily he preached at what would become the parish through which I was received into the Church. It was not particularly long but the theme was making our services more in English (which we already did). Bishop Antoun preached the sermon mostly in Arabic. I had just begun to think that quite odd when I began to see a golden light glowing around him.

I just had to say: This man is a BISHOP!

He will be missed by many. Fortunately I was able to thank him personally for receiving my family and me this past spring. God is good.
