OCA Diocese of Eastern PA on coronavirus

Let me point out that this illness is airborne. So none of these will fix that.

You can become infected by:

  • The air by coughing and sneezing
  • Close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands
  • Touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes

(OCA-EPA) - His Eminence, Archbishop MARK has released a message (PDF) with precautions for all parishioners of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania.

  1. In summary, we’re all going to die, prepare to meet your maker, AKA just keep living an Orthodox life.

  2. Not kissing the Cross and holy icons is not the way, Your Eminence.

And will the disposable cups be collected and burned, or just thrown in the trash?

  3. I cannot believe they followed the tragic instructions of the Greeks regarding kissing Icons and Crosses. LORD HAVE MERCY!!!!
ROCOR is the only one who got it right thus far!

    2. So venerating an icon in faith and without fear is the same as snake handling now? Does God’s grace affect the material world or not? Do we have miracle working icons that saints have died to protect or were they just crazy too?

  4. "So venerating an icon in faith {or a blessing cross} and without fear is the same as snake handling now?"

Yep. Swapping spit with a community during an epidemic of known proportions is about the same...actually, snake handling might be more rational AND faithful...it' closer to stepping in front of a speeding bus and saying "Lord save me, for I HAVE FAITH!!!"

    2. The odds are against me tho...only a 98% chance I’ll be totally fine...probably be safer to lock myself in my room and bathe myself in hand sanitizer, but what’s the fun in that
