And, it seems, if you're interested in joining, the process is streamlined...

They sure got some cool swag! But I think a joiner won’t be getting any of it unless he comes bearing plenty coup against ‘the foremost enemy of the Ecumenical Throne’, i.e., the Russian Orthodox Church.
ReplyDeleteIt’s just so great seeing Abp. Girasol ‘uniting the Orthodox Churches’ in preparation for his eventual ascension to the Phanariot Throne.
And we need this why? They had a byelo Russian group of five parishes that languished and is now integrated into the acrod diocese which is led by a Greek bishop,,,not an American nor Slavic but a Greek. Then they have an Albanian diocese of two parishes,,,,etc.... This all just does not pass the sanity test,,,,,and to me contradicts the basic tenets of Christianity.....I fear this is another step on the ladder of trepidition
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope the OCA will soon have a Greek vicariate. What could be more sensible?
ReplyDeleteOCA already has an ethnically Greek bishop, so we're off to a good start.
DeleteCorrection: Archbishop.
DeletePaul Gassios, Abp. of Chicago and the Midwest, the kindest and sweetest-tempered, wisest and most capable shepherd you’d ever want to meet. Not a trace of vanity or ambition in him. Greeks wouldn’t know what to do with a man like him.
To the Greek clergy and their flock, the OCA doesn’t exist. Despite the untoward overtures of Abp. Elpidophoros and his fabulistic reportage to his clergy that the OCA will be coming under his omophor (indicating a changed polemic, putting the OCA in his sites) Greeks haven’t changed their common basic outlook forbidding the development of the Local Church in these lands. The OCA as Local Church is like a burst of static from their headphones, a cough from the audience at a symphonic concert.
It’s crucial to Phanariot schemes for extending their impotent dominion over the Orthodox Churches that American Orthodoxy be divided up into ever smaller jurisdictions in a complex arrangement populated by hierarchs who are Greeks or fully subordinated to Greeks. Recall that the bishops of ACROD and the Albanian Diocese each have a seat and a vote in the Assembly of Bishops.
If the Belya Vicariate or the Palestinian Vicariate grow (a doubtful premise) they might even get their own Bishops. I’m sure that very doggie treat has been dangled in front of the younger Belya whose defrocked and disgraced exit from ROCOR was on account of his forged letter of candidacy for a bishopric.
I don't know guys, In a Facebook society does not all this make sense? ;)
ReplyDeleteHonestly and seriously... why would the Greek Archdiocese accept this group when there is such a cloud over their canonical behaviours? When the Jerusalem Patriarchate accepted the Ben Lomond group from the Antiochian Archdiocese, their leader, Fr John Weldon Hardenbrook, was not placed in a position of leadership. Alexander Belya is an archimandrite in good standing. Hmmmm……
ReplyDeleteTrust me, this is not going to end well.
Reminds me of rocor with James toombs and recently with Bondi ,,,, also, if they followed Canon law the Jerusalem group should have been made to go back to the antiochians,,,,divide and split,,,divide and conquer
DeleteThey might be trying out the strange idea of "retired bishop of x" the OCA once applied to an unusual fellow in order to trim his wings. He won't ordain anymore and so it puts his "succession" to a quiet end. Awkward but effective.
DeleteThat is an astute observation and along that line who will accept bishop melkisedek and his brother of the Palestinian orthodox church
ReplyDeleteIt's win-win. The Greek Orthodox don't have to ordain non-Greeks and Slavic Orthodox don't have to get to know their non-Slavic neighbors.
ReplyDeleteBut where is Christianity in all of this? Isn't all this contrary to the teachings of Christ,?
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Orthodoxy! You must be new.
