American Orthodoxy, you have to stop. The word has not been, is not now, and never will be "deaconate." Even as I try to type the word my computer's spell-checker writhes in agony at the woeful misformation of letters. And yet I have seen, from every jurisdiction that chooses to post on ordinations, that bilious plash besmirching the titles of otherwise joyous events. It's diaconate. Please, people. It's diaconate.
