Serbians reverse decisions of American episcopal council

(Serbian-NCSA) - THE EPISCOPAL COUNCIL
OF THE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH
IN NORTH, CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA

December 6/November 23, 2019
Chicago

TO ALL THE GOD-GIVEN FULLNESS OF THE CHURCH OF THE SERBIAN ORTHODOX PEOPLE
IN NORTH, CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA

By the grace and gift of the Holy and Life-giving Spirit, preserving the decency and priestly order (1 Cor. 14:40) of the Church of Christ, and per the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (No. 995 and 1009/Min. 638 dated September 25, 2019), and in the spirit of the behest of the Episcopal Council (E.C. No. 11, dated December 5, 2019), the Bishops, members of the Episcopal Council for North, Central and South America, have the honor of informing you that they have adopted the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops which states: “Repeal all decisions of the Church Assembly-Sabor of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South….concerning the organization of the Serbian Orthodox Dioceses on that territory” (Nos. 995 and 1009/ Min. 638, dated September 25, 2019).

The Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North, Central and South America, in agreement with the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops, informs that unity is necessary more than anything else for our Church of Saint Sava and thereby summons an extraordinary Church Assembly-Sabor to be held on February 29, 2020 in Clearwater, Florida, which will put into effect the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops.

Thereby, that which depended on the God-loving hierarchs has been completed and the remainder rests on you to manifest a unified and mutual love for the Lord, through which your sincere love for our Church of Saint Sava will be made manifest.

The Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church
in North, Central and South America.

    1. I was confused to, I think it relates to the following:

The most controversial I think being that the the council adopted a measure to limit the church to only US not Canada and South Amer.

  2. How many Serbian Orthodox are there in the US? How long do they think they'll be genetically Serbian? Do they arrange inter-marriage, ship in brides from Serbia?

    2. No idea. But I think cloistered hierarchs in the old country don't realize how big the US is and that Central and South America are completely different heritages. I think The Antiochian Churches in Central and South America are Hispanicizing very rapidly. They should, to head off the Greek's creation of a Mayan/Aztec/Inca Church in Central and South America. Or maybe the Antiochians marry into the Iberian elite and the two Orthodox Churches develop along parallel ethno-cultural lines. Better theological minds than mine will have to sort it all out. One thing for sure is I know we are not, definitely not, 100% NOT guilty of the dreadful heresy of phyletism, the worst heresy of all heretical heresies.
