Legal discussions between OCA, Met. Jonah continue

(OCA) - Motivated solely by a prayerful desire to achieve an appropriate resolution of matters of care and mutual concern both to the Orthodox Church in America and to His Eminence, Metropolitan Jonah, the Church and His Eminence continue at this moment in ongoing discussions that are intended to achieve a mutual agreement and understanding that will be a Christian resolution acceptable to both.

Metropolitan Jonah and his legal representative, together with the appointed representatives of the Church, have mutually agreed to maintain these discussions in confidence until a point in time when they can be made public to the satisfaction of the Orthodox Church in America and His Eminence, Jonah.

  1. It is sad to see "legal representative" in a post about Christians attempting to resolve and reconcile issues that are purely within the boundaries of Church polity. For 2000 years of history and leading by the Spirit we're still Corinthians. Sigh.

  2. This is really disturbing. Unless there is an extremely unusual explanation for this I would say that Jonah is making it abundantly clear that he was/is unfit for the episcopacy. I seem to recall that there are church canons which forbid this sort of thing.

  3. John, Metr. mad it clear he was unfit for the episcopacy WHILE he was metropolitan. Why can't he just do the right thing and retire to a monastery and end his life in prayer there?
