The header image (the desert with Byzantine, TX emblazoned in blue on the left) has been with us for many years now. I'm thinking it might be time for a change. Do I stay with something Texan? Do I aim for some liturgical eye candy? Something else entirely? Do tell.

How about a burnt-orange background with a couple of white longhorn heads on each side? Nothing could be more Texan than that!
ReplyDeleteFr. James, I want more readers not fewer. I could countenance a maroon background with longhorns under the heading, "Saw 'em off!" :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for liturgical yumminess. Unles, of course, it depicts something being done incorrectly, in which case my eye shall twitch every time I visit your blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteI prefer Liturgical eye candy too, but that's because I'm not from TX.
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly with Josephus - the only liturgical use for burnt orange is the ceremonial BBQ'ing of large cows with big horns.
ReplyDeleteGig 'Em
(My 2 cents? I prefer the Texas theme - how about a patch of bluebonnets with a 3-bar cross?)

You don't have an icon of LBJ or J.R. Ewing laying around? OK, how 'bout Roger Staubach? Maybe a picture of the Alamo with a 3 bar cross on the doors? Ummmm... a shot of the lower part of a priest's vestments with cowboy boots? I dunno... "liturgical eye candy" is pretty standard stuff for Orthodox blogs, but then again, it seems to be what Orthodox people like to see on an Orthodox blog. There's a lot of cool pictures by a friend of mine on "Eastern Orthodoxy Beheld" site.
ReplyDeleteThanks for comments. The de-lurking posts such as this usually point me to new blogs to read and also -it seems - to Fightin' Texas Aggies. The wife has threatened to quit reading if I get the choice wrong, so I have to make a solid choice. Keep the opinions coming!
ReplyDeleteI think the current one is iconic (not in the theological meaning of that word, clearly) but I always love Texas bluebonnets.
