(SVOTS) - Join the St Vladimir’s Seminary community for an entertaining evening that includes a gourmet meal and competitive "Cook off" on Thursday, May 13th. Proceeds from evening will go directly toward paying down the mortgage on the Lakeside Married Student Apartments, which presently house 18 seminary families on campus and are filled to capacity. They're quite nice. Minus some issues with laundry room amenities, they're spacious and foster the family-centric environment that St. Vladimir's provides.
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 6:00 PM, with open bar and exquisite hors d’oeuvres, and with seminarian musicians entertaining guests as they mingle and mix with seminary students, faculty, and administration. Guests then will enjoy a fabulous buffet at 7:00 PM prepared by the seminary chef, Nat Fasciano, while they cheer on competing chefs, His Grace Benjamin and Fr Alexander Rentel, whose cuisine will be judged by local celebrity “foodies.” His Grace is an alumnus of St Vladimir’s and is bishop of the Diocese of San Francisco and the West in the Orthodox Church in America; Fr Alexander is Assistant Professor in Canon Law and Byzantine Studies at the seminary—both are talented gourmet cooks.
Jason Foster, the Annual Giving Officer at the seminary and organizer of the event, expressed the crucial need for support of married student housing, and his enthusiasm for the fundraiser: “Please know that when you purchase a ticket to our Cook off, not only are you in for an entertaining and fun-filled evening, you are making an investment in the lives of student families, and helping to insure the ongoing financial stability of the seminary. We have a $3M mortgage on this property, and we are pleading for your financial support and friendship.”
Tickets to the event are $100 per person, and $50 of the ticket price is tax deductible. RSVP to the dinner and purchase tickets on line, or contact events@svots.edu, 914-9561-8313 EXT 351.
