On "gnomic will"

An excerpt Frontier Orthodoxy's continuing series on St. Maximus:

So “gnomic willing” is the kind of willing we do that deliberates in this fallen world to determine the obscured divine principles and intentions God has for created natures (especially our own). Therefore, “gnomic willing” is a kind of employment of the natural will. It is the will in action by fallen creatures in a fallen world.
