"I am the door. By me if any man enter in he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture." - John 10:9 At every parish where I have had the pleasure of attending services, there is always a small group of people who find their way all the way up to the church building but don't actually attend services. Thank you for posting this! LuAnn was a wonderful lady. She was influential in my journey to Orthodoxy as she became one of my first Orthodox friends. She and Don were an example to Father John and I as we began our relationship. Their love for eachother was evident to everyone they met. Father John painted their house the summer he moved to my town when we began dating and spent a lot of time with LuAnn. She and Don made it possible for him to live nearby and now we are married and have two sons! I often think of LuAnn when I'm frustrated and try to be patient and hopeful as she was. This scholarship is a beautiful way to honor her. May her memory be eternal.

ReplyDeleteWell Fr. Gregory, one reason (among many I am sure) is to prepare women for ministry in the Orthodox Church. Take a look at this upcoming conference: http://orthodoxdeaconess.org/women-diaconal-ministry-conference/
