"I am the door. By me if any man enter in he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture." - John 10:9 At every parish where I have had the pleasure of attending services, there is always a small group of people who find their way all the way up to the church building but don't actually attend services. At one parish it was a group of male gypsies who talked on cellphones or smoked cigarettes. At another it was a few Protestant husbands who, though they never attended services, opened the parish doors for people as they filed in. At yet another parish the men stood in the narthex and chatted until it was time to receive and then got in line. Latin or Greek Catholic, Eastern or Oriental Orthodox I see the same small throng of men standing next to the front door, but not standing, sitting, or kneeling amongst the people. I hope when Prince Charles becomes king, that he pulls a reverse of Henry the VIII.He embraces Orthodoxy and eliminates Anglicanism as the state church. Let them go their own way, which seems less and less to be the Christian way.

ReplyDeleteThe weren'i heretics nor apostates. That's a plus.
DeleteThe anglicans just keep making up weirder and weirder stuff. Just when one thinks they have run out of weirdness they come up with more, almost a miracle of freakishness. I expect most of them would disbelieve the miracle at the wedding at Cana but doesn't their own grotesque imagination prove that some things cannot be naturally explained?
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, while some Imams tell their flocks to wish their Christian neighbors, "Merry Christmas", there are others who say exactly the opposite. Islam recognizes the Virgin Birth, but they consider Jesus as " one of the prophets".
ReplyDeleteI heard a broadcast of an Imam saying that to believe God could be born of a virgin is worse than fornication, murder, or drinking alcohol. History has proven that Islam believes in lying to promote its agenda.
They get full marks for loving their neighbor / enemy, though.
