Is the male-only priesthood a discipline or essential to the nature of being a priest? Sr. Vassa (again unflinchingly taking up a contentious topic by climbing up the ladder to the highest platform and then jumping into the deep end head first) dives right in and says there is no reason beyond personal preference to not have female clergy. ReplyDeleteThankfully not, the Greek edition of Romfea (for some reason not the English edition) is an impeccably unbiased and accurate resource when it comes to reporting on matters in the Church of Greece, and the rest of the Orthodox world, and they have reported that the Ukranian issue will not be discussed at the October session. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, given the circumstances. https://www.romfea.gr/epikairotita-xronika/30256-ektos-imerisias-diatajeos-tis-ierarxias-to-oukraniko
DeleteOops, apparently the issue is going to be taken up tomorrow, at the August 26 session of the Holy synod. Pray that they do not make any bad or ill-advised decisions.
