Of audiobooks and prayer books

And the abbot replied, "So your tape recorder will be doing the praying, and your tape recorder will be saved."

    1. He's been deposed, so no longer a priest. Sad news. Lord have mercy.

    2. I heard some incredibly joyful news that Monk Herman has returned to the fold of the Orthodox Church. Can you confirm?

  2. Well this news comes to me sideways. By way of confirmation, I do see his page at academia.edu has been updated with: "Fr. Herman is a hieromonk of the Eparchy of St. Nicholas of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. He is a graduate student...". I talked to Fr. Herman a few times (in person and online) and he even gave me some good counsel at one time, so again I taken aback.

Anyone know the backstory here? In these situations, often there is some neglect/abuse by those in authority in the hierarchy above - either that, or by the person themselves. Not always the case, but a too common situation.
